The family's original celery top pine kitchen found new life as the centerpiece of this design, honoring decades of family memories while creating a fresh, functional space.
The island bench leg showcases a section of the original kitchen benchtop, transforming what might have been waste into a sculptural element that carries the family's history forward.
This kitchen trialled composite materials made from brick waste while reconfiguring the space to transform family dynamics. The central island now draws the family together for shared meals and conversation.
Five integrated 'spots' in the bench represent each family member, creating an emotional connection to the space. The cooking zone balances functionality with the social heart of the home.
